Most of the above mentioned documents will be with your lawyer or if you are appointing a new lawyer they can obtain them for you.
It is very important to have the above mentioned documents when you start selling your property because:
• Estate Agents are legally required to have copies of many of these documents when signing an Agency Agreement to sell your property.
• A sale is not made until the Promissory Contract is signed binding both the buyer and seller, if these documents are not available this could delay the signing and the buyer may change their mind or find another property.
• The legal requirements and process of selling a property in Portugal are very similar to those of purchasing. It is important to ensure that all relevant documents are available. Incomplete documentation will delay the sale process, and in some instances for several months.
